- Comic Book Design Brief
Overview:
I am looking for a series of promotional/ bonus/ supplementary art pieces to fill the back of a single issue paperback comic book. For my end of year project I aim to produce a single issue of my independent comic book, “BOY-BOY”. As a design feature I want to add a selection of full page artworks, to emulate a professionally published comic piece. This artwork can be in the form of an alternate cover, a piece of artwork or something more abstract, but it has to be in reference to the comic book.
As the work is being illustrated during this brief, there will be only a small amount of art to reference, mainly character designs and concepts from the script.
I am aiming for around 5 images from different artists to flesh the back section of the printed comic. If I get more than 5 submissions I will select my favourite 5. Selections will be credited within the printing of the comic.
I ideally want something resembling a variant cover or piece of artwork. If you don’t illustrate with a comic artstyle - that’s fine I want a nice selection of unique art.

Brief:
BOY-BOY is an action adventure comic book inspired by early 200’s cartoons. After a wave of giant monsters is set upon the world, a little Golem, Boy-Boy is sent down to put an end to the destruction, after falling in with some survivors, Boy-Boy learns what it means to be hero and more importantly the value of life.
The main plot of the story consists of Boy-Boy battling giant kaiju-esque monsters, if this is something you would like to illustrate you can get super creative as I plan to have a good amount of different crea-tures such as big serpents, cyclops, dragons etc. I cannot include any licensed characters due to the pub-lishing section of my project. I would like the piece to contain the main character, however if you would prefer to create something more abstract that’s also fine.
The artwork does not require any typography, such as the main title however if you would like to include it to turn your work into more of an alternate cover type of design I can provide the files for the original typography. Please also submit any social media link you want associated with the work tol be included in the printed copy, a portfolio or website would be ideal.
